Details:
On the evening of 01 October, an interesting view of the Waxing Gibbous Moon was captured at 18.13 LT (16.13 UT) when illumination from the Sun was just right to highlight portions of the rim of Mare Humorum extending over the almost horizontal terminator (first picture). Adjacent Gassendi and Gassendi A craters are also clearly visible. These names were obtained from an annotated photograph of the Waxing Gibbous Moon at 83% of full illumination taken by Mike O’Hara on 31 May 2012, found at https://www.flickr.com/photos/spacemike/7316331380. If my view is rotated and compared with his, it is almost identical (see comparison). Thanks to Mike for use of his reference image. My picture of the Moon was taken using a hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 compact camera in sunset scene mode and x 60 zoom magnification.
