Details:
This photo of the West Elk Mountains was shot from our home in Paonia, Colorado at 7:01 am on September 22, 2017. I was surprised to see several new mountains that appeared to be floating above the eastern horizon at sunrise. There were 3-4 duplicate images of the same mountains projected on top of each other as the first rays of sun arrived. The Shangri-La effect only lasted 5-6 minutes before fading.

Thats not a mirage but the mountains shadow multipled by the cloud layers (or probably not real layers rather curtains of them) being present. Fantastic images!!!

Thanks! I have seen single projections like this before, but this is the first time that I have witnessed multiple shadows being cast.
