Details:
Last night the skies were busy over the San Francisco Bay area, with evening travelers arriving and departing the local airports. Additionally, there was an interloper splitting the uprights of the Golden Gate Bridge, NROL-42 launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, located nearly 250 miles to the south. NROL-42 launched at about 10:50pm PDT on an Atlas V in the 541 configuration (5.4 meter faring, 4 solid rocket boosters, and 1 common core booster) providing 2.5 millions pounds of thrust at liftoff. This is a stack of 21 ten-second exposures.
