Details:
After reading Alan Dyer’s excellent ebook "How to Photograph the Solar Eclipse" I saw the value of having wide angle images of the event and capturing the progression of the Moon’s shadow from right to left. The right hand side of the first image shows the shadow on the right hand clouds as the shadow approaches from a North Westerly direction. The second image taken at mid totality shows the eclipsed Sun, a record of the scene as I saw it and all the clouds in the shadow. The left hand side of the third image shows the shadow on the left hand clouds as the shadow recedes in a South Easterly direction. The images were taken with a Canon 1200D, Canon 10-18 mm lens at 10mm (effective focal length 16mm). It was set at ISO 400, F5.6 in aperture priority mode and an interval meter set to take an image every second. The exposures were 1/5 sec, 1/6 sec and 1/5 sec. There is some lens flare on the first and third images. All automated so I could watch the Eclipse!
