I got up 4:30 am, check outside, and as last night and the day before, clouds and pretty heavy smog from the BC fires or even Montana fires, were present!! Checked the spaceweatherlive.com and I learned that the predicted storm finally arrived. I jumped in my car and drive for 5 minutes away with hope that I can find a patch of clear sky through this dense smog and clouds. After few kilometers I could see few patches of clear sky and some stars!!! I set up my cameras and trying to get some pictures through the dense and fast moving smog and clouds. I was amazed how strong the aurora was, if even through this dense smog I could get some relatively clear shots!!! Imagine how the show was with a clear crystalline sky full of starts….. As I am writing this, the storm is at G2 level…. Hopefully will hold until tonight…(Kakwa area, Alberta, Aug 31st, 2017, Nikon D800, Nikkor 14-24mm f 2.8, ISO 3200, 4-5 and 8 seconds exposure, 14mm to 24mm, 2.8.)
