Details:
Ivan Del Mar and several members of the SMCC astronomy club, ACE, observed the moonrise tonight from Dyer Point in Cape Elizabeth Maine, a location which has an unobstructed view of the horizon on Casco Bay.
The earth's atmosphere, acting as a lens, distorted the color and shape of the moon. At first the moon looked like an iceberg ... faint and shaped like a block of ice. And it continued to offer interestingly distorted shapes as it rose.
