Details:
The June 2017 solstice took place at 04.24 UT (06.24 LT in Zimbabwe and Mozambique). The accompanying photographs were taken from a vantage point high in the Bvumba Mountains near Mutare, overlooking Mozambique, at solstice which was just three minutes after local sunrise. The first picture shows the position of the Sun exactly at solstice, the second almost a minute later. The following mosaic shows the amount the Sun moved during the minute after solstice. In the last image taken at 06.25 LT the Sun is centered behind the cloud band it had been rising towards. The photographs were taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 compact camera in sunset scene mode and x30 zoom magnification.
