Details:
This evening (27 May) the waxing crescent Supermoon, now two days old, was clearly visible from twenty minutes after sunset until dark when it was recorded setting behind a Musasa tree lined hill to the north of Christmas Pass (lead animation). The second and third pictures show the Moon while it was still high above the same hill in sunset twilight glow. In the last image taken twenty minutes later the Moon with bright Earthshine has been joined by Betelgeuse and Orion’s Belt in the fading twilight sky. The photographs were taken using a tripod mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 camera in sunset scene and manual exposure modes. The animation was produced by extracting one frame every two seconds from just over a minute of video taken while the Moon disappeared below the horizon.

Due to file size constraints the animation does not do justice to this beautiful moonset. Please visit https://youtu.be/ES8ofZfOWXw
