Details:
Around midnight on May 20/21, a very faint vertical "cloud" appeared in the eastern sky and, upon photographing it, this is what appeared. Over a sequence of images it changed its shape slightly and drifted toward the north.
Certainly not "Steve"... the mysterious auroral feature seen from high northerly latitudes, and likely not a weather phenomenon (such as dust devil), satellite fuel dump or jet vapor trail. Or is it?
My first thought was that it might be a persistent train left behind by a massively bright fireball, but I've seen no reports of one. Any ideas?
