Ice-out aurora adventure in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
I ventured into the BWCA in northenastern Minnesota on Friday night, less than 24 hours after the ice was gone from Kawihiwi Lake. I hoped for some northern lights and was not disappointed! The aurora began soon after sunset and continued until first light. I was scrambling for more firewood in the wee morning hours, but it was an incredible first spring trip into this amazing wilderness.
