Details:
Following cloudy weather on 02 April there was a clear view this evening of the Sun with Sunspot Group 2645 setting over Murahwa Mountain. However it was so bright that a solar filter consisting of a disc of exposed x-ray film had to be fixed to the front of the camera lens to enable the sunspots to be photographed. The animation, compiled from 12 still images captured three seconds apart, shows Sunspot Group 2645 disappearing behind some trees on the summit of the mountain. The second and third still images are higher resolution views of the sun with sunspots before and while it was setting. The bonus picture is of the first quarter Moon shining brightly in the eastern sky 10 minutes later. The photographs were all taken using a tripod mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 compact camera in sunset scenery mode with x60 zoom magnification.
