Details:
This evening the sky was particularly clear and a good view was obtained of Crescent Venus setting near Christmas Pass twenty minutes after sunset. The animation prepared from 30 still images captured over two minutes from 18.28 – 18.30 LT shows crescent shaped Venus two days after inferior conjunction descending behind some indigenous Musasa trees on the flank of a hill adjacent to the Pass. The following two stills are a more distant and enlarged view of the planet. Conditions were ideal for the crescent shape to show up so well with not too much contrast between Venus and the sunset twilight sky. The photographs were taken using a tripod mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 compact camera in sunset scenery mode with up to maximum x60 zoom magnification.
