Details:
Three successful Black Brant IX rocket launches occurred late last night at the Poker Flat Research Range near Fairbanks, Alaska. The rockets carried a multitude of plasma physics experiments (30+) into the aurora during a minor geomagnetic storm. The first two rockets were captured at 8:41 PM & 8:43 PM, the 3rd at 10:50 PM. Some of the brightest auroral displays of the season along with these spectacular fireworks are definitively compensating for the long period of heavy snowfall and overcast conditions I had to endure since last week. Last night has been quite a treat indeed. Photo details: Canon 5D MK III camera w/14mm f/2.8 lens, ISO 1600, 8s exposures
