Details:
The animation shows the 30.9-hour-old crescent moon among clouds (see the 2nd photo) 25 minutes before setting. Just one day after passing in front of the Sun and covering 43% of its disk over a clouded out Rio, there it is again, 2.1% illuminated and only 5° above the western horizon 27 minutes after sunset. The 27-frame animation was made with PhotoScape. The images had been saved from a 30-second video, recorded with a Canon PowerShot SX60 HS camera, also used to take the photos. Yesterday I couldn`t even see the Sun, today I was very luck indeed for having been able to capture the very young moon just when it appeared from behind a cloud to hide behind a nearby building a couple of minutes later.
