Details:
This evening (02 February), the setting Sun illuminated a perfect anvil cloud which developed over some cumulonimbus behind Hospital Hill, Mutare. When the display was brightest (first photograph) it was accompanied by a deep red crepuscular ray caused by sunlight reflecting from some thin high cloud above a shadow cast by the anvil. The following three images show that in less than 10 minutes the color of translucent cloud at the base of the anvil changed from orange yellow to bright red and then grey brown as the setting sunlight passing through it faded. The photographs were taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 camera in sunset scenery mode.
