Details:
During the night of 29-30 January, Mutare experienced a severe electrical storm with 4 inches of torrential rain falling in just over two hours. At 23.05 LT a multiple cloud-to-ground lightning strike was captured landing behind some trees in Murambi Suburb about a mile away. In the accompanying animation, in which motion has been slowed down 10 times, at least five distinct strokes land in the same place. The multiple strike which persisted for almost a second must have been very energetic as peak brightness was sufficient to almost completely overexpose a number of frames in the video (see thumbnail mosaic). This was recorded using a hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ80 compact camera in night scenery mode
