Details:
I have been checking the sun for new spots since January 1, 2017. With the various rain storms hitting S. California I took a break in the weather on Saturday to see if any spots had appeared. I was surprised to see two spots moving across the face of the sun so I set up my scope and managed to get one shot through a thin layer of clouds. The rain hit within 30 minutes of taking the image. The mottled surface is the result of clouds moving in from the west.
