Details:
I woke at 5am,looked out of the window and saw these amazing pillars! Knowing what they were I grabbed the camera/tripod a hat and winter boots (who needs to change out of pajamas?) because I knew the effect could be fleeting. I took as many photos as I could before my hands started to freeze (-23 deg C) and as I warmed my hands inside the pillars dissipated. I've seen pictures of them before but never out in rural settings where they just jump out of the blackness! Fantastic way to start the new year.
