Details:
With the forecast that a strong solar wind stream (G1-storm) will arrive at Dec. 7th we decided to give anyway already this evening of Dec. 5th a try. And we were lucky as there came in the silence of the night a small herd of reindeer between our observation position and the northern lights. A pity that there was no moon illuminating the scenery. It was only -30C..... but my Italian customers were very happy. We saw also 6 meteors. Grilling sausages and drinking hot chocolate with pulla next to the campfire: It felt all together like a very nice appetizer for a very nice main dish on the 7th-9th of Dec.. Hopefully we will have not too many clouds and/or snow the next days.... Probably Thursday and/or Friday will be our best days to observe the next auroras at their best. Keep an eye on the sky!
