Details:
As mentioned on the Dec 3rd front page, Venus and the Moon are doing it again--putting on a show in the sunset sky. Mutare was treated to a particularly beautiful display with the now four day old waxing crescent moon clearly visible even before the sun had set (first picture). Half an hour later Venus and the Moon were flanked by broad sunset crepuscular ray which rose almost to the same level. The sky then changed color to provide a beautiful twilight blue backdrop to both Moon and Venus with Mercury down below. As darkness approached the three were joined by some stars and the lights of Chikanga Township to complete a wonderful Saturday night light show (last photograph). This was recorded using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 camera in sunset and then night scenery modes.
