This is how we decorate Christmas Trees in Cody Wyoming . I hang the new crescent Moon on the right tree. I dangle the planet Venus on the left tree. About 300 meters away on the hilltop are three lighted pine trees at my community rec center. Then I wait for the International Space Station to rise and ascend between it all, and take a 30 second time exposure. The heavenly spirits of the season. Nikon D5300 camera with Sigma 18-250mm zoom set to 100mm ( eq. focal length of 150mm). Manual focus and a single exposure of 30 seconds at f/11 using ISO 1600 , in a very strong wind. The entire composition was previsualized using Heavens-Above.com for the ISS pass and planet setting; Photographer's Ephemeris to get time and direction to the Moon; Google Earth to establish a very precise sightline thru the trees. Merry Christmas, Spaceweather people!
