Details:
The Day/Night Band (DNB) on the NOAA/NASA Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership environmental satellite recorded the event on 18:45 UTC, or 02:45 local time in Sichuan.
The preliminary analysis is that the bore was propagating southwards, perpendicular to the axis of the frontal feature. The most prominent banding occurred around 3:30 AM local time, which was about 45 minutes after the DNB came across. The photo from 2:59 AM local time shows a weaker, more diffuse brightening that is more consistent with what the DNB saw. By 4:23 AM local time the feature has become more diffuse again (but could be due its increased distance away from the photographer).
