Details:
The first animated gif shows Mercury (only 16.6 degrees from the Sun) setting over the Tijuca Peak and includes 19 frames saved from a 9-minute video made with a Canon PowerShot SX60 HS camera at nightfall (about 22:00 UT). Note the sky rapidly darkening; the clouds receeding and the apparent path of the planet, consistent with Rio`s tropical southern latitude. The second (3-frame) animation shows its small disc. Photos that include Mercury and Venus (respectively) in the southwestern sky are also shown.
