This 19-frame animation shows the solar conjunction of Jupiter in 2016. It includes near realtime images obtained from SOHO Lasco C2 archives, downloadable at https://sohodata.nascom.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/data_query Soho coronagraph blocks the direct light from the Sun, revealing its corona and surrounding, that would otherwise remain invisible to human eyes due to its blinding glare. The time-span covered goes from 6:48 on Sep. 24 to 18:48 on Sep. 28 UT. The minimum angular distance between the Sun and Jupiter (m=-1.7) was 1.1° only, reached on Sep. 26.3 UT.
