Based on Spaceweather.com alert for a 3rd night of aurora, I this time set up my Nikon d7000, Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 @ f/2.8, iso 2200, 30 sec exposure to see if I could record any activity.
Sub-storms peaked at 11:17PM (lasting 30 minutes) and then at 12:31AM peaking at 2AM and ending at 2:30AM. The above clip (24fps) runs from 9:36PM to dawn (6:15AM). The intro maps shows the extent of this geomagnetic storm around 4AM.
The video sequence starts with green airglow at top with redden aurora near horizon. After a fireball's appears to hit the horizon (at the 10 sec mark), rays race from right to left (east to west) as I recorded looking due north.
This panels above show various aspects of the aurora display. The activity was rather faint but I could detect dull colors but no ray structures. The camera's long exposure and high iso helped to capture things a lot better.
