Details:
An homage to the 50th anniversary of Star Trek , first broadcast on September 8 , 1966. I was out doing starscape photos of Mars and Saturn with the 38% lit waxing crescent Moon and Milky Way galaxy at Buffalo Bill Reservoir last night . When the clouds started obscuring all, I did a couple of self portraits for fun . One was of Mr. Spock's Vulcan hand salute " Live long and prosper". And Lo!---today turned out to be the golden anniversary of Star Trek. Space lore serendipity worth sharing !
Nikon D5300 using ISO 2000 for 30 secs. at F/2.8 with a Tokina ATX 11-16mm zoom at an equivalent focal length of 21mm. I have to admit being startled at seeing the Moondog ring around the Moon in the photos . It was not visible to my naked eye at the time.
