Details:
Second night of Upper Middle Latitude Substorming seen from Southern WI. 9/2-3 11:00pm-12:00am CDT. We apparently had a small brief Aurora near Zenith during a G1. It was considered very usual as data did not support seeing lights this high up in the sky from Southern WI. Talking with a solar physicist, she thinks it may be "Likely wave related. Maybe EMIC waves scattering particles during a substorm but to see it at zenith in WI is weird" It was a beautiful and rather strange past couple of days with Proton Arcs, EMIC Waves?, and Substorming the first night that was unusually stronger than what the data suggested. A Short Timelapse of the Two nights is provided here. Not a perfect edit due to quite a bit of camera movement (partially due to only having a crop camera that can't get as wide as my lens is and being antsy. :) https://youtu.be/8X-9DBqjF-A
