Details:
A little bit of aurora activity tonight under the brilliant Milky Way - and note the meteor track in the upper right! Nikon D610, f3.5, 14mm, 30 sec, ISO 2500 (Georges Pond, Franklin, ME). This is why dark skies are important - many people have never seen the Milky Way much less an aurora. This aurora needed to be captured by the camera as it wasn't strong enough for the naked eye - we had checked www.spaceweather.com for aural activity which prompted us to go out to see if we could get a shot; luckily our camp faces north across the pond.
