I've been busy tallying up this morning's Perseid totals. It appears that this year's Peak exhibited periods of cluster of meteors followed by long lulls. I was able to see 6 meteors within 10 secs on one occasion and several events with two meteors at the same time.
Using my 35mm Nikkor f/1.4 @ f/2.0, iso 1250, exp 13sec w/ 2sec gap, in 250 minutes I recorded (between 12:04AM to 4:14AM)106 Perseids. The 35mm lens gives about the field of a 50mm lens since I'm using a DX dSLR (Nikon d7100). Most of these captures were not clearly visible to my eye since they were nearer the horizon where strong airglow was present after moonset. Based on the entire sky, I'd say that the ZHR was in excess of 200 as predicted but Perseids brighter than say zero magnitude were lacking. Most fell in the +1 to +4 magnitude range. Seemed like anything brighter than +1 did produce short lived smoky trains. Attached are the best (brightest) from the bunch. Not too shabby, all things considered.
Was 46F at day break (6014' elevation) under near perfect clear skies. Cloud broke shortly before midnight!
