On a flight from Moscow (Russia) to Frankfurt (Germany) I had a spectacular view of a Sun Dog above and below the wing of the aircraft. The Sun is to the top left (see first two images). I have seen plenty of Parhelia before but, never quite like this. The Parhelia below the wing almost looks likea fainter mirror image of the one above the wing. The first two images enclosed here were taken a few seconds apart to give a limited amount of 3D effect in some foreground clouds. This was the view about 25 Min out of flying west out of Moscow. About 18 minutes prior to the visibility of this double parhelia effect there had been a single very bright Parhelion -see 3rd and 4th images of these for a much stronger stereo effect with foreground clouds.

Very nice sighting. The sundog below the horizon is a subparhelion:

It forms just like an above the horizon sundog except that its rays reflect an odd number of times inside the ice crystals. Sundogs form when there are an even number of internal reflections:
