Details:
Very changeable winter weather has been experienced in Mutare with warm sunny days and clear blue skies interspersed with dull overcast days with strong chilly winds bringing in cloud from the east. On 25 July, added smoke haze from dry season burning reduced visibility and the brightness of the late afternoon sun enough for a video of it setting behind the Christmas Pass Hills to be recorded.  The accompanying time-lapse movie in which movement has been speeded up about ten times shows the sun setting below the tree-lined horizon along which a thin band of brightly illuminated cloud is moving.  Just before the sun sets some thin cloud in the immediate vicinity makes it briefly appear to catch fire. Shortly afterwards dark shadows radiate upwards and follow the silver-lined cloud band until the silhouette of a fast-flying bird flashes by. The original video from which this looped time-lapse movie has been prepared was captured using a tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 camera in manual mode with minimum exposure settings and maximum x60 magnification.
