Details:
What an evening for cloudscapes and the play of light and shadow in the open air. On July 3 a thunderstorm passed by before sunset providing an incredible sky full of cloud shapes, warm colours, rainbow fragments, and converging cloud shadows. The underside of the storm also exhibited the classic protruding cells from downdrafts creating so-called mammatiform clouds which always show best at sunset with the low lighting angle. The storms may be hiding the auroras and noctilucent clouds but they provide their own fantastic show.
