I've only been taking night sky pictures for a few months. Absolutely LOVE IT!! Starting very simple & basic. Was taking pictures of Mars and got this shot. Thought it looked pretty strange but pretty cool:).Need to zoom in to see it good. Was using: Sony a3000 Exp 1/25sec, f/5.6, ISO800, 55mm with 4x digital zoom. Cant wait to get even better equipment! SO EXCITING!

not really sure what to make of your photo, but a few words of constructive criticism - never use digital zoom, and again for emphasis - never use digital zoom. All that does is make the pixels bigger, stick with optical zoom if you use any zoom features at all. Do a quick search of how digital zoom works. (also manual focus is almost a mandatory feature). Imaging the night sky takes a lot of practice, patience, and now good software to get anything that begins to look anything like what you see thru the eyepiece, or even just looking up!!!

PS. a lot of folks that post some amazing images here would no doubt be thrilled to discuss their photo equipment & techniques with you. Perhaps even search for U tube tutorials !!! I have little experience beyond 30 second point & shoot pics of the night sky.
