Details:
Well, it's Sunday afternoon and us Earthlings are still flying through a fast-moving stream of solar plasma, ejected by the sun a few days ago. But this aurora storm is more like a sprinkle, at least from my vantage in central Montana. A dim glow of northern lights peeked over the north horizon all night and into the dawn. The big crescendo was less than five minutes of crimson pillars at 3:30 a.m., but that was enough to make my killdeer companion call out into the night.
