Details:
Comet C/2013 X1 (PANSTARRS) came within 1 degree of the Helix Nebula in Aquarius this morning! Although low in the sky just before dawn, what a beautiful sight! Attached is a 40 minute LRGB taken with Vixen 100mm f/3.8 refractor and SBIG 11K CCD Camera binned 2x2. Saturday morning, the comet will lie within one-half degree from the Helix, a scene we hope to also capture!!

Congratulations! Super shot :) These opportunities dont come along too often. I was thinking my favorite this year was the January conjunction of Comet C/2013 US10 Catalina and Messier 101 but I think this one tops that! Good luck Saturday night.Unfortunately being in Whistler Canada, its too low and blocked by all the mountains.
