This animation includes 20 Soho`s Lasco C3 images and shows Mercury during a 10-day period that goes from May 4.63 until May 14.54 UT, centered on its May 09 transit. Note that the planet, pinpointed at every 8 hours, faded and reappeared 2.0 days before and after mid-transit, respectively, when its distance from the Sun reached 3.0° and its magnitude was 5.3.
