Details:
I had about 15 minutes of visibility through thickening high and middle clouds this morning between 11:40-11:55 UTC. The clouds were thick enough to dim the sun to levels safe enough to make these images without a filter. I also tested the 400/4 Tamron with the Nikon D800 to see how good an image of Mercury I could get. Here are the results. Shutter speeds 1/2500-1/3200 at f/32 and ISO 79.
