Details:
For the past two mornings I’ve got up in the early hours of the morning to view and take images of the Eta Aquarids meteor shower. On the first morning of the 5th May I did not observe any at all, but in the early hours of this morning (6th May) I saw many very faint, and extremely fast meteors flashing all across a beautiful clear eastern sky.
I have managed to capture quite a few of them in my images but they are very faint and have quite long thin trails, another strange thing is, some of them are quite fat looking and short…but this meteor that’s in my photo is quite different, it was very bright and looked quite spectacular and came from another area of the sky to the south east that was away from the radiant…so I think it’s just an unrelated meteor that photobombed the Aquarids :-)
Image taken at 5.23am (AEST) with a Canon 700D and a Tonkina 11-16mm lens set at 12mm. The aperture was F2.8 and the ISO 1600, exposure time was 13 seconds.
