The -0.02 magnitude planet Mercury emerged from horizon cloud cover in twilight around 8:50 pm CDT on Sunday, April 17, 2016. This image looks WNW from near Marion, Iowa. Nikon D7200 DSLR, 15-second exposure at f/13, 400 ISO and 80mm focal length. Mercury was one day ahead of its greatest elongation from the sun.
