Details:
| Sirius scintillation. | Here are two different photographs demonstrating the atmospheric scintillation of Sirius. I took them from Kielder Observatory where I work using my own camera equipment and a photographic lens. | IMG_1406 - By defocussing on the star and panning slowly using a tripod the photograph reveals the different colours of scintillation. | IMG_1407 - This time the focus is pin sharp, however the tripod head I was using (Manfrotto Junior 410) has a tiny vibration in the panning mechanism. This is not visible until zoomed in on the photograph. | If requested I can supply exact settings of both photographs and also original RAW files.
