Details:
Whilst on holiday in Iceland we were treated to a beautiful aurora display. The vibrancy and movement of the lights was unlike anything I'd seen from the UK before, despite observing it around 20 times. It was the first time my girlfriend had seen the aurora this dynamic and she stood, staring in awe at the lights shouting wow continuously ha! In the image of it vertically over the mountain, to the naked eye it looked like smoke coming from fires on the mountain. It's no wonder in arctic folk-law they are thought to be dancing spirits. Taken on a Canon 5D mkii with a 28mm canon lens. 25s exposure. Taken around 1:30am from north of Reykjavik. Can send higher res images via e-mail if required.

Great images. I like the first one in particular; looking North from Reykjavik, the curvature of the aurora, when visualized as a semi-circle, points to the Geomagnetic North Pole. http://maps.ngdc.noaa.gov/viewers/historical_declination/ Very nice.
