Details:
Here are some newly processed images from the great aurora display of March 6 which peaked at Kp7. These scenes, taken with a fish-eye lens from Churchill, Manitoba, capture most of the sky. They were taken as part of time-lapse sequences intended for projection in digital planetarium theatres. They show how the curtains can tint the sky very red at times, or vivid green. Only a fish-eye lens can take in the scene as you remember it, with the aurora all around and above you, with the auroral curtains converging to the zenith. It is one of the sky's most spectacular shows, second only, if that, to a total solar eclipse.
