I wanted to see if my modified full spectrum camera will be able to pick up the red gases surrounding this star system and was very glad to see that it did. According to Nasa Eta Carinae has been slowly brightening since 1940. You can read more in their recent article here: http://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2016/nasas-spitzer-hubble-find-twins-of-superstar-eta-carinae-in-other-galaxies I used a modified Canon Eos Rebel T3 with a 50mm lens at F/1.8 for 8 seconds and ISO at 800.
