The wind howled and the snow was blowing horizontally whilst setting up the Sami Lavvu for my guests tonight. It was indeed rather bleak. As I greeted my guests they seemed little forlorn at the poor weather. However, in my experience the weather changes so rapidly and I assured them that although it was currently blowing a snow storm outside at the moment I had started the Lights over Lapland aurora photography tour in far worse conditions, yet had still experienced magical auroras. Tonight I assured them I was confident it could well be one of those evenings where the 'Abisko Blue hole' performs its clear sky magic. I was greeted by a few doubting looks but assured them it was absolutely true and why Abisko gets such high ratings as one of the best places to see the aurora for this very reason! Indeed as we neared our site, the cloud was clearing and fast! Just as tripods and cameras were set up the aurora then appeared right on cue. Gradually it increased in intensity until BOOM, the sky, bright lit by the moon was filled was rapidly dancing aurora. Amazing shapes and colours. Guests literally screamed with excitement, as did I! it was a mind glowingly beautiful display tonight! Oh and the guests agreed, I was right, the weather can change!!!!
