After having to deal with almost constant cloud cover since early December, we here in western Montana have finally enjoyed a couple of nights of absolutely clear transparent skies. Taking advantage of this, I was able to capture some images of the Orion Nebula region. Details: Telescope: Mallincam VRC6 6-inch Richey Crietien Reflector with Astrophysics CCD67 Focal Reducer @ f/6. Imager: Canon 5D Mark II DSLR with in-camera noise reduction. ISO: 3200. Number of Exposures: 13 x 60 seconds. Image Capture Software: Backyard EOS. Image Processing: 13 light subframes, 5 Darks, 5 Bias frames stacked in Deep Sky Stacker. Post processing in Photoshop CS.
