I planned on only photographing a large panorama of all five of the planets with crescent moon, as I took several panoramas using my Sony NEX 5R with adapted 42 year old mamiya/sekor 55mm f/1.4 college days camera lens from 1972, until daylight washed out the sky. (Mercury is in several images here near the horizon, but the crescent moon may be obscured by thin clouds in twilight.) And the Sony stock lens was also used- 18~55mm at 18mm. Eventually as the sunrise approached, many local photographers arrived only to capture the sunrise. As I conversed and informed them all of the planets, and crescent moon, no one of the perhaps couple dozen at the famed Jonsrud Viewpoint in Sandy Oregon responded, except for one young Chinese gentleman that admitted he was just starting in photography and he wanted to watch what I was doing with my camera, so he could learn. The scene had all but Venus fading in daylight, as the lenticular cloud over Mt Hood and the dramatic sunrise became the popular photo op for all.
