Comet Catalina US10 & M101 this morning 1/16/16
Despite sheets of ice forming all over everything at 3am, I was able to view and image this comet within 2 degrees of M101 this morning. Visually, I could JUST see the comet naked eye as a 1 degree sized round patch, thats it. The good thing is that the DSLR picked it up a bit better! Both the tail and the galaxy are what one might consider as "low surface brightness" and in the binoculars I could not see a hint of tail, but both tails recorded fairly well on the set of images, spanning 30 minutes and wtih my Canon L lens set for 200mm to get both objects. Hope you like it:
