Details:
Waiting for the sky to clear up to photograph Aurora. In between, having fun with the optical phenomenon of the day: light pillars!
Light pillars are caused by the reflection of the street/building lights below them on tiny ice crystals that are in the air. Today, the temperature dropped to -20°C/-4°F here in Inari, Finnish Lapland, enhancing the formation of ice crystals in the air.
