Details:
Visually faint, colorless auroral arc and rays were visible from near the end of twilight for about 1hr, 20min (00:48-02:08 UTC 1-Jan 2016). Photos Nikon D5000 iso 3200, 30sec, 18mm zoom. Should have checked focus. Temp 9F made it difficult to do things, but I had fun and well worth the drive up from Longmont, Colorado. Considerable air glow was noted in photos and visible very faintly by eye too. My first such obs.
