Details:
Caught this beautiful Hydrid Fireball the morning of the December 6th, at 3:38 AM. Looked like a Hydrid to me, but could be a Geminid. It had a persistent smoke trail, or train. The gifs cover 12 minutes elapsed time after the meteor exploded! The stars show a little distortion due to Earths atmosphere. First GIF is the close-up, second, a wider angle for scale. Third, the original 14mm shot. Last, earlier from the same night, we captured a faint Quadrantid meteor at 11:42 PM. We were shooting 10 second exposures with a Canon 550D @ ISO 3200. The lens is a Rokinon 14mm wide open @ f2.8.
